BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage)
BECCS is a mitigation technology that combines bioenergy production with carbon capture and storage, aiming to produce energy while removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. Biomass is burned to generate energy, and the resulting emissions are captured and stored in geological formations. BECCS is classified as a negative emissions technology due to its potential to offset atmospheric CO₂. However, its effectiveness depends on sustainably sourced biomass and efficient capture technology.
